Navdurga of Mulshi – Taljai Mata on Tikona Fort

Greetings! On the occasion of the Navratri festival, we are learning about the Navdurga of Mulshi taluka and their details.
Today’s third Durga is Taaljai Mata on Tikona Fort.

This fort is located in the Kolwan valley of Mulshi taluka.
It is the fort that guards the pass of Pavan Maval.
The deity on this fort is Taaljai Devi, whose idol is in the shape of a rice grain and is very enchanting.

The temple of the goddess is located inside the Taaljai caves on Tikona Fort, where there is a lot of intricate carvings.
The interior of the cave features various flowers carved in delicate detail.
In front of the temple is a large pond, and the water from the pond is suitable for drinking.

During the Navratri festival, people from the surrounding areas come to visit for darshan.
The atmosphere in the temple is very serene and full of devotion.
It is a must-visit during Navratri to experience the tranquility and spirituality of Taaljai Devi’s temple on Tikona Fort.

Pune to Navdurga – Taljai Mata (Tikona Fort)
Approximately 60 km from Pune.
The fort is about 3,500 feet above sea level.
Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours.

Best Time to Visit

– Winter (October to February): Ideal for trekking due to pleasant weather.

– Summer (March to May): Can be quite hot; start hikes early to avoid the heat.

How to reach there

Mulshi is accessible by road from Pune and Mumbai. Public transportation options and private vehicles are available for reaching the Taljai Mata (Tikona Fort).

Carry at least 3 liters of water and some snacks.
– Consider hiring a local guide for a more informative experience.
– Start early to avoid the midday heat.
– When climbing a fort, shoes with a good grip are used… Typically, people wear a T-shirt and track pants.
– Climbers follow the known paths and routes marked on the fort. Otherwise, there is a possibility of getting lost.
– There is a risk of encountering many crawling creatures, so people prefer to take the known route
