Kunjai Mata Temple in Rihe Village – Mulshi’s Navdurga

We are learning about the Navdurga temples in the Mulshi taluka. Today’s fifth Durga is Kunjai Mata in Rihe Village. Located in the Rihe valley of Mulshi taluka, Kunjai Mata is a revered deity in the village of Rihe. The original temple of the goddess is now submerged under the water of the village dam. As a result, the villagers have built a new temple on the banks of the dam. Both the old and new temples house a rice-shaped idol of the goddess. In 2019, the old temple was exposed as the water level of the dam receded. The Kunjai Mata Temple is a significant place of worship for the people of Rihe Village and the surrounding areas. During the Navratri festival, many devotees visit the temple for darshan (viewing of the deity). Every year, after marriage, women from the village make it a point to visit the temple for darshan. The temple is situated by the dam, making the surrounding area picturesque. Devotees feel peaceful and happy after visiting the temple and enjoying the beautiful scenery. If you ever visit the Rihe valley, be sure to take the opportunity to visit the Kunjai Mata Temple.

Thank you.
