Mutha River
The river originates near the villages of Vegre and Mandavkhadak, situated below the high Kolkhind pass—which lies between two peaks approximately 1,100 meters in height—east of the Tamhini Vinzhai temple at the head of the Mutha valley.
A short distance from the source, within a sacred grove (*devrai*) on the riverbank, the shrine of the self-manifested (*swayambhu*) Goddess Kondjai is located beside a deep pool formed by overhanging rock faces.
